What happens

Jack Benny hosts a Sunday evening broadcast with Mary Livingstone, Don Wilson, Dennis Day and Bob Crosby, with Rochester on hand. Jack jokes about his age and reads off a list of gift-giving mix-ups. Dennis brags about a raffle prize and is teased by Jack, and Bob asks about a ticket for his brother Bing's birthday. When Don Wilson's anniversary comes up, Jack insists the whole group should drop in on Don's house unannounced, though Don keeps saying his wife should be called first. The cast gathers at the cottage and hides in the rose bushes while Don goes ahead to check things with his wife. The original air date was November 14, 1954 on NBC and CBS Radio.

A radio studio before a broadcast, then Don Wilson's small white cottage with rose bushes and a porch light.

Characters: Jack Benny, Don Wilson, Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day, Bob Crosby, Rochester, Phil Harris, Alice

Listen for: Jack repeatedly telling Don to call his wife before the group barges in, and the group hiding in the rose bushes while Don goes inside.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
