What happens
Jack Benny, recovering from a week-long illness, returns to his radio show, joined by Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Kenny Baker and Don Wilson. Between jokes about his health and a flirtation with Phil Harris over Benny's nurse, the cast performs a comic mystery sketch. Detective O'Benny, played by Benny, is called to the home of J. Wellington Crotsmere, a socialite found shot in his den. His wife, Mrs. Crotsmere, is questioned by the detective and his sergeant while she recounts seeing shadows on the lawn that night. The sketch ends on a cliffhanger, promising the mystery will continue on the next broadcast. The episode was first broadcast on May 30, 1937, on NBC and CBS Radio.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
