What happens

Jack Benny celebrates his ninth radio anniversary during a live Jell-O broadcast from the Ritz Theatre in New York City. He reminisces with Don Wilson and Phil Harris about his early morning shows, including a sponsored program for Bixby's Bonnie Biscuit Batter and a sign-on theme he once wrote. Mary Livingstone calls her mother in New Jersey to say she will not visit before the cast leaves for Hollywood, while Dennis Day brings a birthday cake with nine candles. The program then moves into a sketch parodying the Fred Allen show, with Benny, Wilson and Harris taking on the roles. The Jell-O series of 1940 is the setting, with the broadcast airing on NBC and CBS Radio.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
