What happens

Jack Benny hosts a Jell-O program from New York, trading banter about East and West with Mary Livingstone, Don Wilson and Kenny Baker. A letter from a mother of twelve in South Dakota asks the cast for a Cinderella play for her children, and the cast agrees. Benny casts himself, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris as the stepbrothers and stepchild, and Kenny Baker drives the carriage. The fairy godfather turns the stepchild into a prince for the palace ball. The sketch follows the familiar fairy tale, and the program closes with a Jell-O recipe and sign-off. The guide is based on the first part of the episode.

A radio broadcast from New York, with a Cinderella sketch set in the Cinderella family's home and at the royal palace ball.

Listen for: The letter from a mother in South Dakota that prompts the Cinderella sketch, and the fairy godfather's magic.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
