What happens

Jack Benny hosts a broadcast on March 5, 1950, with Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Don Wilson and Rochester. Guest Sarah Churchill arrives at the studio, and Jack prepares a dinner invitation while the cast jokes about income tax, Harris's talents and the approaching visit. Jack asks Sarah whether the company could perform a western sketch, so the cast builds one called Buck Benny Rides Again, with Sarah taking a part. Jack asks Mel Blanc to play a small role. Sarah, Jack and Phil Harris join the sketch as Buck Benny, Sarah's character, Mary's character and Dennis Day's character head into a western story about cattle rustlers and a school marm. Meanwhile Rochester reports on the dinner preparations at home.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
