What happens
Jack Benny appears on the Jell-O program and talks up his new movie, The Big Broadcast of 1937, though his boasts about his acting draw skeptical reactions from Don Wilson, Mary Livingstone and others. Benny's on-air rehearsal of the story is interrupted by the group's teasing and a phone call from his father, which leads to a playful exchange with Phil Harris and the orchestra. The program then turns to a parody of Hervey Allen's novel Anthony Adverse, with Benny recapping the earlier installment and continuing the tale of a man traveling from Italy to Paris in search of his wife, Angela. The broadcast is sponsored by Jell-O and features musical numbers from Kenny Baker along the way.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
