What happens

Jack Benny prepares to leave Beverly Hills for a vacation in Palm Springs, with his valet Rochester and his parrot Polly in tow. Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day and Bob Crosby are also heading to the desert resort, and the group's plans keep running into delays. Jack's car will not start at first, and Dennis cannot say how he plans to travel. Once the friends are on the road, a series of stops and mishaps unfolds as they drive toward the resort. The program is part of the Jack Benny series, first broadcast on December 12, 1954 on NBC and CBS Radio, starring Jack Benny with Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.

Characters: Jack Benny, Rochester, Polly, Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day, Bob Crosby, Don Wilson

Listen for: Jack's attempts to get everyone packed and on the road, and the parrot Polly repeating words throughout

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
