What happens
Diana Barker, living alone in a New York penthouse, wakes from a nightmare in which a bat-like creature with glowing red eyes attacks her, and her husband Richard tries to calm her. Later she finds a clipping reporting Richard's death ten years earlier, and when she visits his grave at Greenwood Cemetery she discovers the coffin inside the tomb is empty. Diana grows weaker and more frightened, and her sister Claudia doubts her account. This Inner Sanctum Mysteries episode aired on 1945-12-18.
