What happens
Simon, a musician who has recently regained his hearing after a long illness, meets Oliver, a man who has just regained his sight, on a country road. The two agree to live together in an old deserted mill near the village, planning to help people once they are ready to rejoin the world. Their friendship begins to unravel as Oliver shows a bitter, suspicious side, and Simon grows increasingly unsettled by what he perceives in him. The story is told in the Inner Sanctum Mysteries radio drama of August 3, 1941, adapted by Robert Newman from Edgar Allan Poe's tale and starring Boris Karloff as Simon.
A village in the countryside below a hill, with a large rambling building on top of it, a road, woods, and an old deserted mill by the river.

Listen for: Simon's growing unease as he hears sounds no one else can hear, and the tension between Simon and Oliver in the mill.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
