What happens

Detective Dan Miller investigates a series of brutal killings by a man the press calls the Slasher, which has terrorized the waterfront neighborhood where he and his wife Laura have moved. After Laura is attacked in their building, Miller grows suspicious of his quiet upstairs neighbor, the composer Reginald Trevallion, and of the building's janitor, Sykes. The story is an original radio play by Milton Lewis, broadcast on Inner Sanctum Mysteries, and stars Arnold Moss as Dan Miller. The episode aired on April 24, 1945.

Listen for: The distinctive whistled tune that Miller associates with the killer, and his growing suspicion of his neighbors

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
