What happens
Johnny Bryce, a hearse driver, is approached by Vera Craig, who offers him a thousand dollars to remove a body from her apartment. When he arrives, the super insists there is no Mrs. Craig, and the body has vanished from the apartment. Detective Steve Maxon appears, and Johnny finds himself caught in a web of lies and threats. The Inner Sanctum Mysteries episode "Only the Dead Die Twice" was broadcast on March 21, 1949, and was written by Ed Adamson and Bob Sloan, with Larry Haynes as Johnny and Alice Reinhardt as Vera. Johnny is drawn deeper into the scheme as he tries to make sense of what is real.

Listen for: The moment Johnny finds the apartment empty of the body he saw, and Vera's offer of a thousand dollars
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
