What happens

A badly wounded man washes up on a remote island and learns that he was pronounced dead the night before. Known as John LeBlanc, he has been drifting from port to port, haunted by a name he cannot accept. Shaken and unsure of his past, he begins to piece together who he was and what he has done. The story is set in and around San Francisco and the island where he awakens. Inner Sanctum Mysteries, first broadcast on January 10, 1949, presents the drama with Charles Irving in the role of John.

An island port, a ship entering San Francisco harbor, and San Francisco's Barbary Coast arcade

Characters: John LeBlanc, Belmar, Sanderson, Old Bailey, Queenie Simpson

Listen for: Old Bailey's pronouncement of death, and John's confrontation with Queenie Simpson at her shooting gallery

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
