What happens

Steve, a fisherman, sets sail with his crew, Carlos and Johnny, after his wife Rita is told she cannot come aboard. Steve is haunted by a violent quarrel with Rita before the voyage and by superstitious omens that strike the boat once she has secretly joined them. Strange sightings, a dying compass and a rising storm leave Steve increasingly unsure of what he has seen and what he has done. This is an episode of the Inner Sanctum Mysteries series, with Steve as the central character.

A fishing boat sailing up the coast toward Goldwater and the fishing banks, and the port town where Steve and Rita live.

Characters: Steve, Rita, Carlos, Johnny, Edith Lawton

Listen for: Steve's shifting account of Rita's presence on the boat, and the sudden storm and failing compass that follow her arrival.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
