What happens
Sam Morrison, who runs a drygoods store on South Main Street, witnesses a woman being forced into a car and driven away at night, and he memorizes the license plate number. Feeling guilty for not intervening, he tries to report what he saw, but the police officer he finds dismisses him as confused. Morrison begins his own inquiry, tracing the plate through the motor vehicle bureau to a florist named Walter Demarest, and he is shaken by a series of uncanny coincidences involving the number. The episode is part of the Inner Sanctum Mysteries series, and the transcript does not give its original air date, cast or network.
A small American town with a suburb, its South Main Street, a motor vehicle bureau, a florist's property beside a stream, and the Morrison home.

Listen for: Sam's repeated recollection of the license plate number 4826 and the escalating coincidences tied to it.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
