What happens

Dan Darrow, a rancher, and his Indian friend Toby Thorey pick up three strangers, the British Mrs. Brenner and Smith, after their car breaks down in the desert. Darrow grows suspicious of the travelers and accuses them of being escaped Nazi prisoners. The three men take control, forcing the ranchers to dig a grave and planning to kill one of them. The desert wind, mysterious music and eerie happenings begin to unsettle the captors. This is Inner Sanctum Mysteries, an episode first broadcast on January 9, 1945. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
