What happens

Reporter Stevie and his police friend Mike find an old man, Ivan Thorne, dead on a barge under the Brooklyn Bridge, with his cats slaughtered beside him. A snow sculpture of a woman's head stands outside, and a box of clay fragments inside holds a metal tag reading Agatha, January 2nd, 1924. Stevie begins to dig into Ivan's past, a story of a sculptor, his divorce, and an unfinished portrait of his former wife that he is determined to complete. The story is told in the Inner Sanctum Mysteries series, which aired on January 23, 1945, starring Lee Bowman.

New York City, in winter, from the Brooklyn Bridge to a Washington Square sculptor's studio and the Stevens house.

Characters: Stevie, Mike, Ivan Thorne, Agatha Thorne, Greg Stevens, Horace, Burke, Mary Bennett

Listen for: The snowman's head and the metal tag reading Agatha, January 2nd, 1924, which tie the old man on the barge to the sculptor's past.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
