What happens
Carl Dickens, a young intern in Boston, arrives at Captain Zeb's tattoo parlor carrying a wooden box containing what he says is a man's head. He tells Captain Zeb that Charon, a stranger who claims to be Death, has been visiting him with a talking black bird. Charon has predicted that a patient, Emily Cartier, will die, and that a man named Simeon Black will die on the night of November 15. Carl begins to fear that the prophecies are coming true and that he is bound to Charon. The episode is part of the Inner Sanctum Mysteries series and was broadcast on November 15, 1948. Fred Mylo wrote the story, and Mason Adams and Ted Osborne appear in the roles of Carl and Captain Zeb.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
