What happens
Howard Ryan returns to Greystone Farm to find his belongings disturbed and his stepmother Mrs. Ryan and her husband Dale Barton waiting for him. Howard believes his father, murdered two years earlier, has returned through the occult rituals Howard has been reading about. Strange events follow, including a dream of being strangled and the discovery of his father's secret journals. Howard grows convinced that someone in the household killed his father. The Inner Sanctum Mysteries series aired on radio, and this episode was first broadcast on July 5, 1948, with Everett Sloan in the role of Howard.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
