What happens
Rookie patrolman Callahan walks his beat in a big city when a stranger offers him a thousand dollars to take a trip out of town. He refuses, but then a woman follows him, a car nearly runs him down, and he is shot at in a warehouse-district alley. His lieutenant doubts his account of events, and Callahan must sort out who is behind the trouble and whether the woman can be trusted. The story is part of the High Adventure series and is a radio novel with the title 64th Street Safari, first broadcast on October 23, 1947.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
