What happens

Britt Reid, publisher of the Daily Sentinel, learns that his Washington correspondent George Meadows has been shot down outside the publisher building just as he was about to report to him. Reid travels to Washington with his assistant Mike Axford, and they find a Green Hornet seal left on the office door. Reid and Axford attend a reception hosted by Mrs. Victor Canby, where Axford enters a conservatory and finds Senator Fairfield murdered. Fairfield's report on the munitions scandal has been stolen from his files, and the case grows more tangled as Reid pursues the killers.

Washington, D.C., in the 1940s, including the publisher building, a reception at Mrs. Victor Canby's home, and a hideout apartment on Sea Street in southeast Washington.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
