What happens

Britt Reid, publisher of the Daily Sentinel, is dining with his secretary Casey and his friend Jacques, an old waiter who serves as a leader in the waiters' union. Jacques is working to oust the corrupt union boss Cattro, who has held control of the union by fear. After dinner Jacques collapses and dies, and the police find that he was given a double dose of his heart medicine. Reed takes up the case, investigates the union's missing funds, and confronts Cattro with the Sentinel's reporting on the union. The episode is part of The Green Hornet series, which aired on December 21, 1939.

A city restaurant and the offices of the Daily Sentinel newspaper, with later scenes at the waiters' union, police headquarters and an empty building.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
