What happens
Larry Reed of the Daily Sentinel investigates a series of streetcar accidents that seem to benefit Dobbs Fisher, who is campaigning to replace the trolleys with buses. Fisher is pressing for a bus franchise before the city council, and the reporter suspects the crashes are not genuine. Reed's publisher, also called Reed, insists on fair reporting over sensationalism, while rival papers chase the story. The Green Hornet, the masked crime fighter whose secret identity is Britt Reid, is introduced as Reed's alter ego and begins to act against the scheme. This is an episode of The Green Hornet, first broadcast on June 8, 1939.
A city with a daily newspaper, streetcar lines, a city council chamber and car barns, in the late 1930s.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
