What happens
Newspaper editor Mr. Reed investigates a series of threats against Mr. Waterbury, a candidate for district attorney, who has just conceded an election campaign. Sergeant Burke and the police examine a sinister recording in which a mysterious voice threatens the candidate, and the case takes a dark turn when Waterbury's campaign office is destroyed by an explosion. Reed questions those connected with the campaign, including the bookie Pepper Short and the candidate's bookkeeper Tuckweiler. Later, the Green Hornet, Reed's secret identity, and his assistant Kato look into the recordings. The guide does not reveal the answer to the mystery.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
