What happens

Newly released from prison, Jack Kenley is met by Steve and Sox, who press him into a plan to hijack a load of sugar from the river. Their scheme uses a fake police boat to stop the cargo, and Britt Reed, publisher of the Daily Sentinel, follows the case through his newspaper staff. The crooks soon try again, this time faking a police stop on the highway with a siren. Jack grows uneasy with his partners' methods, and the police begin to suspect a masked figure is behind the hijackings. The episode is a 1944 installment of The Green Hornet.

A city with a river and waterfront, police headquarters, a newspaper office, and the highway outside town, in the 1940s.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
