What happens

Jack Kinley, released from prison after a three-year term, is met at the gate by old acquaintances Steve and Socks, who press him into a sugar hijacking scheme. Posing as police officers, the gang stops a boat on the river and seizes a load of sugar. Newspaper publisher Britt Reed and his editor Gunny Gunnegan follow the police investigation with interest. Steve then plans a second hijacking, using a siren to halt a truck, and sets things up so that blame falls on the Green Hornet. The episode is part of The Green Hornet radio series, first broadcast on June 8, 1946.

A city with a river, its docks and a police headquarters, during the sugar shortage of the postwar period.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
