What happens
The Green Hornet, a masked crusader, investigates Roger, a fraudulent spiritualist who uses seances and a fake ghost to persuade widows to hand over their money. Newspaper man Britt Reid obtains a photograph of the spectre, and his associate Clicker Benny takes it at a seance. Britt and his servant Kato plan a confrontation, and Roger's accomplice Abbott is drawn into the scheme. The Green Hornet series, which aired on May 25, 1939, is presented here in its opening portion, which sets up the swindle and the trap being prepared against it.
Present-day city offices, a newspaper office, a luxurious seance room, and Britt Reid's apartment, in an era of spiritualist fraud.
Characters: The Green Hornet, Britt Reid, Kato, Roger, Abbott, Clicker Benny, Ed Lorry, Greer
Listen for: The shift from the seance swindle to the trap being set, and the sound of the seance room's voices and music.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
