What happens

The Green Hornet, a masked crusader who works by night, takes on a protection racket in which gangsters Fletcher and Flutter extort weekly payments from fruit stand owners, backing their demands with bombings. Brett Reid, the publisher of the Sentinel, poses as an insurance agent to gather information about the dealers, while his assistant Kato helps him plan the next move. Frightened merchants begin paying the masked figure instead, and the racketeers grow suspicious. Detective Michael Ashford and Sergeant Moran of police headquarters pursue the case as the gangs circle the Green Hornet's trail. The Green Hornet series aired on May 24, 1941.

A city whose fruit markets are targeted by racketeers, with police headquarters, a civic club, and the storefronts of local fruit dealers.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
