What happens

Britt Reid, a daring young publisher who secretly fights crime as the Green Hornet, takes an interest in Franklin's Farm by Proxy Company, which sells apple orchard land that a disgruntled buyer, Nevins, says is worthless rock. Reporter Lorry is sent to investigate the property while Reid, with his valet Cato, plans a scheme of his own. Reid enlists Nevins as his agent to buy back land from Franklin, using a false letter about oil to lure the swindlers into a trap. The story follows the racketeers' growing alarm as their customers begin reselling and the plan takes shape around Nevins' home.

A city of the 1930s, including the Franklin Farm by Proxy Company office, a newspaper, and Nevins' home, with the scheme centred on rocky farmland sold as apple orchards.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
