What happens

Britt Reid, the publisher of the Daily Sentinel, is approached by Mrs. Marbury, an eccentric elderly widow who believes her financial managers, Michael and Palmer, are trying to murder her. Reid assigns reporter Ed Lowly to the case, and Mrs. Marbury is placed under police guard while an accounting of her estate is arranged. The two partners, under pressure to cover missing funds, begin plotting against their third partner, Grafton. Reid and his valet Kato, operating as the Green Hornet, follow the case closely as the partners' suspicions of one another grow.

A modern American city in the late 1930s, with the offices of the Daily Sentinel, Mrs. Marbury's home, and the financial firm of Michael, Palmer and Grafton.

Characters: Britt Reid, Kato, Mrs. Marbury, Ed Lowly, Michael, Palmer, Grafton, Gunnegan

Listen for: Listen for Mrs. Marbury's insistence that her money is missing, and for the partners' conversations about the insurance payout and the coming accounting deadline.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
