What happens

Newspaper reporter Mike Axford is told about a young ex-serviceman, Mark Charlie, who lost five hundred dollars answering a classified ad for a used car. Britt Reid, publisher of the Daily Sentinel, and city editor Donegan discuss the swindle and agree to watch for the con men behind it. The case becomes more serious when a second ex-serviceman is found murdered on River Road, and the Green Hornet and his valet Kato head to the scene to look for clues. The story follows the Hornet's efforts to draw out the swindlers, who are planning their own trap for him.

A city with a daily newspaper, a police headquarters, a waterfront bar, and River Road.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
