What happens

Reporter Mike Reed of the Sentinel hears a tip that a race track scheme is rigged, and goes to the track early with his photographer Casey to meet a man called Jerry. They find Jerry shot dead at the stables, and the horse Firefly, favorite for the big race, missing. Reed suspects the race has been fixed and that a gang is behind the killing. A lookalike horse appears in the race, and Reed and Casey follow a suspicious truck. The Green Hornet and his valet Kato are also working the case. Reed is convinced a fix is under way and sets out to prove it.

A race track and the nearby stables in the early morning fog, and the newspaper city room of the Sentinel.

Characters: Mike Reed, Casey, Jerry, Bobby, Wallaby, Logan, Kato, Mr. Rex

Listen for: The shot at the stables, the news of Jerry's death, and the moment the lookalike horse is revealed at the track.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
