What happens

Britt Reid, publisher of the Daily Sentinel, is pressed to take a stand on the Brannigan Bill, which would legalize horse race betting. Lorry Hart, a reporter, and Miss Benny, his secretary, become entangled in a forged letter signed by the Green Hornet, which Reid receives and believes to be genuine. As the bill nears a committee vote, bookmakers and lobbyists raise cash to influence the legislators, and Reid works through telephone calls and a secret night operation with his assistant Kato. The episode is part of The Green Hornet radio series, first broadcast on June 20, 1939.

The state capital and Daily Sentinel newspaper offices, with Britt Reid's apartment, a nightclub, and a gambling lobbyist's apartment.

Listen for: The Brannigan Bill vote and the forged Green Hornet letter.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
