What happens

Britt Reid, publisher of the Daily Sentinel, and his valet Cato, who share the secret of the Green Hornet, look into a cab driver's odd remarks and a scrap of paper with numbers on it. The cab driver, Smitty, had overheard two men at the docks talking about fireworks and the war. The Green Hornet series aired on July 18, 1944, and this episode is part of that run. Its lead actors are not named in the transcript. The Green Hornet investigates the docks, where he finds a boat and two men who are plotting something involving a submarine.

A city in wartime America, including the docks at the foot of Water Street, the Daily Sentinel newspaper offices, and Britt Reid's apartment.

Characters: Britt Reid, Cato, Smitty, Gunnegan, Lenore Case

Listen for: The numbers on the slip of paper and the talk of fireworks tomorrow night.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
