What happens

Britt Reid, publisher of the Sentinel, and his valet Kato hunt for John Bates, a former assistant city engineer who vanished after threatening to expose graft in a sewer project. Bates's wife receives a threatening note from the Green Hornet warning her husband to stay away. Reporters Larry and Michael Axford chase the story while Reid works to learn where Bates has gone. This is the first part of a two-part episode of The Green Hornet, the series that aired on September 30, 1947.

A city during a rainy period, including the Sentinel newspaper office, police headquarters, a ship called the Bermuda Bell, and a luxurious home on the city's outskirts.

Characters: Britt Reid, Kato, Michael Axford, Larry, Gunnegan, John Bates, Mary Bates, Wagstaff

Listen for: The warning note and phone call to Mrs. Bates, the search for John Bates after the Bermuda Bell arrives, and Britt Reid's signal ring used to call Kato for help.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
