What happens

Lewis Melville, son of a prominent broker, is pressured by racketeer Chick Hanley after a fight in a roadhouse leaves a man dead. Hanley demands ten thousand dollars to keep the witnesses silent. Lewis's father, Oliver Melville, visits the young publisher Britt Reid to report what happened and his decision to follow his son when he delivers the money. Britt suspects a frame-up for blackmail and decides to investigate. The Green Hornet, with his valet Kato, confronts Lewis and then turns to the roadhouse, where the gang is waiting.

A roadhouse on West Pike and the Melville home, in an American city during the Second World War.

Characters: Britt Reid, Kato, Chick Hanley, Lewis Melville, Oliver Melville, Rusty, Jeff, Sergeant Burke

Listen for: How Britt Reid and the Green Hornet uncover the blackmail plot and what happens at the roadhouse at midnight.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
