What happens

The Green Hornet, the crime-fighting alter ego of publisher Britt Reid, and his valet Cato, here played by Kato, take on a wave of robberies in the city. Reid's safe holds valuable jewelry and money, and when word spreads, a gang led by Burgess and Crocker plans to crack it. Assistant Laura and the district attorney Martin are also drawn into the investigation of an unseen fence behind the crimes. Reid hides in a passage behind his apartment, watching and waiting to see who comes for the valuables.

A city in the late 1930s, including the district attorney's office, a newspaper office, Britt Reid's apartment, and a park reservoir.

Characters: Britt Reid, Cato, Larry, Burgess, Crocker, Martin, Gilmore, Michael Axford

Listen for: Listen for the district attorney's description of the crime wave and the fence who handles stolen goods, and for the moment Britt Reid is watching from the secret passage.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
