What happens

Britt Reid, a daring young publisher, and his valet Kato look into a waterfront tip after reporter Gail hears a woman's worried story about her son Dennis, a deckhand. Dennis has gone missing after a fight in a dive on Water Street, and Britt and Kato follow a trail of hints through the dockside district. The Green Hornet operates against the criminals and enemy spies who threaten the shipping that supplies the war effort. The episode was first broadcast on May 23, 1942, as part of the Green Hornet series. The story is still unfolding in the portion covered here.

A waterfront port city during wartime, including a dive bar on Water Street, a seaside house, and the docks where the freighter Black Star prepares to sail in a convoy.

Characters: Britt Reid, Kato, Gail, Laura, Dennis, Sherlock, Kevin, Gunnegan

Listen for: Listen for the reporter's office scenes, the waterfront fight, and the police discussion of a green hornet seal found in the alley behind the dive.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
