What happens
Britt Reid, publisher by day and the Green Hornet by night, and his valet Cato investigate a robbery at the Robbins and Brown wholesale jewelry house, where diamonds have been replaced with zircons and a fake Green Hornet seal was left behind. During a night raid, Britt is wounded in the left wrist and Mr. Brown is later found murdered. Britt then sets out to draw the killer into the open, leaving notes for the chief clerk and for Charles Robbins. The Green Hornet series is an old-time radio drama, and this episode aired on 9 February 1947.
A city of the 1940s, including the Reid newspaper office, the Robbins and Brown wholesale jewelry house near Fourth and Murray Lane, and a rooming house on First Street.
Characters: Britt Reid, Cato, Charles Robbins, Brown, Gunnegan, Miss Case, Mike Axford, Carl Johnson
Listen for: Listen for the phone tip to police and the surprise arrival of the Green Hornet at the jewelry office window in the final stretch.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
