What happens

Britt Reid, a young publisher known as the Green Hornet, investigates an employment agency run by Crow after a woman named Mrs. Taylor says she paid a fee for a job that never materialized and was refused a refund. Reporter Lowry and editor Mr. Reed follow up a suspicious phone call that links the agency to hiring for a state road project controlled by Quentin. The reporters pursue the lead, questioning Crow and Quentin while suspecting a deposit scheme that cycles workers in and out of jobs. Britt Reid, with his valet Cato, plans his own move against the racket and reaches Mrs. Taylor before the crooks do. The tale continues as tensions rise between the conspirators.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
