What happens

Britt Reid, publisher of the Daily Sentinel, learns that a pair of nylon stockings given to his secretary Casey are really rayon. He sends reporter Mike Axford to track down the racket behind the fake nylons. Axford visits small shops, buys stockings from a suspicious clerk, and is soon taken captive by the sellers. Reid and his valet Kato go looking for him, and the police are called in.

A city in the 1940s, including the offices of the Daily Sentinel, the streets lined with nylon stocking queues, a small shop, a farmhouse, and a warehouse on River Road.

Characters: Britt Reid, Mike Axford, Casey, Lenore Case, Gunnegan, Kato, Sergeant Burke

Listen for: Axford's inquiry into the nylon stocking racket and the trail of clues that leads Reid toward the warehouse on River Road.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
