What happens
Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve learns that Dolores Del Rey is suing him for breach of promise after he kissed her and suggested she marry someone else. Judge Hooker, his old friend, is first to hear of it, and Gildersleeve takes the case to the lawyer Waldo Barker, who wants a settlement of $5,000. Gildersleeve refuses to pay and insists on fighting the suit. That night he dozes on the couch and dreams of a courtroom, where Judge Hofstede presides over Del Rey's case. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series, and this episode aired on NBC on January 7, 1945, with Harold Peary in the lead.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
