What happens
Leroy Forrester wants a new wristwatch for Christmas and keeps pressing his uncle, Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, for one. Leroy's old watch keeps falling apart, and the boy's constant complaints wear on his uncle's patience. Gildersleeve, the city water commissioner, is busy with his duties and his romantic life with Paula Ellis. He tries to prove the old watch still works by wearing it himself for a day, but the watch proves unreliable, and Gildersleeve finds himself running late for important appointments. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series starring Harold Peary, with Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in supporting roles, first broadcast on NBC on October 15, 1952.
Summerfield, a small town; Gildersleeve's home, the drugstore, City Hall and the water department.

Listen for: Leroy's pleas for a new watch and Gildersleeve's growing trouble with the time.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
