What happens
Gildersleeve is reluctant to visit the Thompsons, where his in-laws are receiving a visit from Mrs. Thompson's sister. When he phones to make his excuses, he is charmed by the sister's voice on the line and changes his mind. Judge Hooker, meanwhile, shows off his new chartreuse car and invites Gildersleeve for a drive. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy from September 13, 1950, broadcast on NBC, with Willard Waterman in the title role.
Summerfield, a small town on a Sunday afternoon

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
