What happens
Gildersleeve is troubled by a breach of promise suit brought by a lady he once admired, and he has lost all interest in Christmas, which is only two days away. His friend Judge Hooker arrives to say he has turned down the case, and Gildersleeve's spirits lift at once. The household then shifts into holiday preparations, with Leroy and Marjorie watching their uncle and the guests as the Christmas Eve celebration begins. The Great Gildersleeve is a long-running NBC radio comedy, and this episode aired on December 24, 1944, with Harold Peary in the title role alongside Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle.
Summerfield, a small town, in the Gildersleeve household and around town during the days before and on Christmas Eve.

Listen for: Gildersleeve's change of mood once Judge Hooker drops the lawsuit, and the mix-up over the turkey.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
