What happens
Gildersleeve is anxious after a quarrel with Miss Del Rey, who has retained Judge Hooker, and he fears a breach of promise suit and a process server. He orders the household to keep the doors locked and admit no one, while Leroy and Marjorie worry about the trouble he is in. Judge Hooker calls at the house, but Bertie tells him no one is home. Gildersleeve then decides to act himself, borrowing a disguise and a cousin's taxi to follow Miss Del Rey that evening. The series is The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on NBC on December 17, 1944, with Harold Peary in the title role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
