What happens
Gildersleeve's nephew Leroy brings home a large tomcat, and Marjorie insists it must go. Gildersleeve takes the cat, named Leo, in a hatbox to find it a new home, first to Mrs. Milford, then to the Jolly Boys club, and then to Peavy's drugstore. Each attempt goes awry as the cat keeps escaping and reappearing. The series The Great Gildersleeve airs on NBC, and this episode was first broadcast on October 19, 1949, with Harold Peary in the title role.
Summerfield, a small town, including the Gildersleeve home, Mrs. Milford's house, the Jolly Boys meeting hall, and Peavy's drugstore.
Characters: Great Gildersleeve, Leroy, Marjorie, Uncle Mort, Bertie, Mrs. Milford, Catherine, Floyd
Listen for: Gildersleeve's repeated attempts to pass off the cat and the cat's returns.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
