What happens

Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve learns that Judge Hooker and his fellows have voted him into the Sons of Summerfield, an exclusive club whose members wear coonskin caps. Gildersleeve is delighted until he discovers that his old rival Rumsen Bullard is in charge of the initiation, and he begins to worry about what the men have planned. Willard Waterman plays Gildersleeve in this episode of The Great Gildersleeve, which aired on NBC on October 25, 1950, with Harold Peary, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast. Gildersleeve's family and friends tease him about the coming ceremony, and his nephew Leroy and niece Marjorie add to his unease.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
