What happens
Leroy wants to skip school to see the circus, but his uncle Gildersleeve refuses to excuse him. Judge Hooker and Gildersleeve, reminiscing over checkers, boast to Leroy about the pranks they played as schoolboys. Leroy takes these stories to heart, and the school soon faces a string of strange disruptions. Gildersleeve and Hooker learn that their talk may have inspired the trouble, and they scramble to set things right. The episode is part of The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on NBC on October 19, 1941, with Harold Peary in the title role, alongside Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
