What happens
Gildersleeve and his friends from the Jolly Boys Club are celebrating a Saturday night out when Peavey leaves them. Hours later, Mrs. Peavey calls Gildersleeve in a panic because her husband has not come home. Gildersleeve takes charge, phoning Floyd Munson and gathering deputies, while Mrs. Ransom rushes over in her nightclothes. The chief of police arrives late, and the men argue over how the search should be handled. A note from Peavey is found, and the club decides to call on Mrs. Peavey. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy from 1947, first broadcast on NBC on May 14, 1947, starring Harold Peary.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
