What happens

Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve prepares for his niece Marjorie's wedding to Bronco Thompson, three weeks away. Wedding invitations arrive in quantity, and the costs begin to mount. Marjorie wants to wear her late mother's wedding gown, but the family searches the attic without success. Gildersleeve turns to a shop in town for a replacement and finds the price steep. Friends and neighbours begin offering dresses, and Marjorie must decide what she will wear. The Great Gildersleeve, broadcast on NBC on April 19, 1950, stars Harold Peary, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
